Highlights
Gaspard and Lisa arrive at Granny Matild's house in the countryside. Granny Matild shows them Gaspard's old detective kit and then presents them with a new mystery: someone or something has been eating and taking her prize tomatoes, which she intended to enter in the harvest festival.
Gaspard and Lisa, now 'Detectives Gaspar and Lisa,' decide to hide and observe to catch the tomato thief. After a period of waiting, they spot a rabbit eating the tomatoes and quickly realize it is the culprit.
After identifying the rabbit, the children try to shoo it away, but it soon returns. Gaspard then suggests leaving an apple nearby to distract the rabbit from the tomatoes, but this also proves ineffective, and the rabbit goes back to the tomato plant.
Lisa suggests building a small 'tomato plant house' to keep the rabbit out. They build a box structure around the tomatoes, and initially, it seems to work. However, the rabbit finds a way under the box, and in their attempt to shoo it away again, Gaspard and Lisa accidentally trample and squash all of Granny Matild's prize tomatoes.
Gaspard and Lisa confess to Granny Matild about squashing her tomatoes. Granny Matild isn't angry, appreciating their efforts. She then gets a new idea to protect the remaining tomatoes from the clever rabbit. They build scarecrows, which successfully scare off the rabbit.
With the rabbit problem solved, Lisa wonders what Granny Matild will do with the now-squashed tomatoes. Granny Matild keeps it a mystery until dinner, revealing a delicious ratatouille made with the damaged tomatoes, solving the final mystery of their purpose.
