The Anunnaki divided Earth into regions after territorial disputes. Marduk, son of Enki, proclaimed himself the only god after the pyramid wars, leading to the other Anunnaki unleashing nuclear weapons in 2024 BCE, causing a devastating explosion in the Middle East. This event, known as the Great Calamity, caused widespread destruction and pollution. Enki, after witnessing the devastation and the 'Evil Wind' that killed everything, decided to record the events for posterity. He summoned the scribe Endubsar, explaining the cyclical nature of destruction and creation and tasking him with transcribing the Anunnaki history for 40 days and nights on special lapis lazuli tablets.
The narrative shifts to the origins of the Anunnaki on their home planet, Nibiru. Nibiru, a planet with a wide, eccentric orbit, experiences extreme temperature fluctuations. Its atmosphere is sustained by volcanic eruptions. The Anunnaki species naturally evolved on Nibiru, multiplied, and built civilizations. Initial conflicts led to devastating wars between northern and southern nations, nearly destroying the planet. A truce was declared, leading to the establishment of a single monarchy to unite the warring factions. An, a warrior from the north, became the first king, unifying the territories and establishing laws. The succession system evolved, with the 'Law of the Seed' becoming crucial, favoring offspring from half-sister marriages to ensure royal lineage.
Over generations, Nibiru faced an environmental crisis: its atmosphere began to deplete due to a massive 'hole.' Sages proposed grinding gold into a fine powder and dispersing it into the atmosphere to create a protective barrier. Alternatively, some suggested using terror weapons to stimulate volcanic activity. King Lahma, however, remained inactive, leading to growing desperation among the populace. Prince Alalu, claiming the throne based on the Law of the Seed, rebelled against Lahma, defeated him in combat, and became the new king. However, his rule was contested by Anu, who also claimed royal lineage.
Anu challenged Alalu to an unarmed combat and won, but Alalu escaped Nibiru in a celestial ship. Guided by ancient knowledge, Alalu traversed the solar system, navigating through the dangerous asteroid belt (the Hammered Bracelet). He eventually landed on Earth, which the Anunnaki called Ki, discovering that it possessed breathable air, water, fruits, and, most importantly, abundant gold. He immediately transmitted a message to Nibiru, announcing his discovery and proclaiming himself king of Earth, demanding recognition and allegiance from Anu.
Anu and the Council on Nibiru were astonished but skeptical of Alalu's claims. Enlil, Anu's legitimate son, expressed doubt about Alalu's demands. Enki, Anu's eldest son by a concubine and married to Alalu's daughter Damkina, proposed a diplomatic solution. He volunteered to travel to Earth as Anu's emissary, verify the gold, proclaim Alalu as king of Earth, and then hold a new battle for the Nibiru throne upon his return. Anu agreed, and Enki embarked on his mission with 50 heroes, using water jets rather than terror weapons to navigate the Hammered Bracelet. They made a stop on Lahmu (Mars) to replenish their water supply before reaching Earth.
Enki and his crew landed safely on Earth, where they were greeted by Alalu. Enki established Eridu, the 'Home Away From Home,' near the landing site, assigning Alalu as its commander. He set specific tasks for the Anunnaki, and the seventh day was consecrated as a day of rest. Initial gold extraction from marshy waters proved insufficient. Enki realized that abundant gold, linked to Tiamat's 'golden veins' from the 'Secret from the Beginning,' must be deeper within Earth. He named this gold-rich region Abzu.
Enki's news of abundant gold in Abzu prompted further action from Nibiru. Enlil, critical of the situation, was sent to Earth by Anu to gather evidence and formulate a plan for gold extraction. Upon arrival, Enlil ordered the construction of exploration ships, confirming the existence of gold in Abzu. He then proposed an ambitious plan to expand operations, bring more Anunnaki from Nibiru, and establish new settlements. During a heated debate with Enki about leadership roles, Anu intervened, returning to Earth himself. He declared that Enlil would be Lord of Command in Edin (the land region) and Enki would be Lord of the Abzu (the mining region).
Alalu, feeling betrayed and denied his promised dominion over Earth, challenged Anu to another fight for the Nibiru throne. In a shocking act, after being defeated, Alalu bit off and swallowed Anu's private parts. Enki declared that the poison ingested by Alalu would naturally lead to his death. The Seven Who Judge condemned Alalu. Anu decreed Alalu's exile on Lahmu (Mars), where he would spend the rest of his days. Anzu, a pilot, volunteered to accompany Alalu, promising him a king's burial. Anu honored Anzu's loyalty by promising him command of Lahmu if he survived. Anzu later died on Lahmu, and Alalu's face was carved into a rocky mountain as a monument.
With Alalu exiled and Anu returned to Nibiru, Enki focused on designing technological equipment for deep Earth penetration in the Abzu. Enlil meticulously planned and mapped Edin, embarking on building a celestial ship platform in the cedar mountains. Anu, on Nibiru, established intermediary stations on Lahmu (Mars) and Kingu (Moon) and developed new classes of spaceships, envisioning a bustling caravan routes between Nibiru and Earth. A mission of fifty chosen women, including Ninmah, Lady Chief, and Anu's half-sister (and a physician), arrived on Earth. Ninmah revived the seemingly lifeless Anzu on Lahmu and appointed him commander of the Lahmu way station, as promised by Anu.
Ninmah arrived on Earth, bringing healing seeds for the Anunnaki. She and Enlil expressed their affection, leading to the birth of Ninurta (Enlil's son conceived on Nibiru). Enlil revealed his grand plan for five cities on Earth, with Nibru-ki as the celestial link. Back in Abzu, Enki established his abode and designated the 'Place of the Deep' for gold extraction. Rivalries and intricate family dynamics unfolded: Enki, firstborn but from a concubine, had Marduk with his wife Damkina. Enlil, the legitimate heir, had Nannar with Ninlil and Ninurta with Ninmah. Enlil was briefly exiled for impregnating Sud (later Ninlil) but married her. Enki and Ninmah attempted to have a son, but only daughters were born, leading to Ninmah cursing Enki after he was enraged. Anu's decree that all on Earth would be called Anunnaki ('Those Who Came from Heaven to Earth') and those on Lahmu called Igigi ('Those Who Observe and See') signaled the beginning of intensive gold extraction. However, the Igigi on Lahmu and Anunnaki in Abzu became discontent with the arduous labor. Anzu, invited to Enlil's chamber, stole the Tablets of Destinies, aiming to become king of Earth and Lahmu. Ninurta pursued Anzu, defeated him, and retrieved the tablets. Anzu was executed, his body sent to Lahmu to be buried beside Alalu. Marduk became the commander of Lahmu. A new City of Metal, Bad-Tibira, was constructed in Edin to streamline gold processing, with Ninurta as its commander. However, the newly arrived Anunnaki grew discontent with the heavy labor.
Ninurta noticed a decline in gold mining. Enlil investigated and found that Anunnaki workers had rebelled against the strenuous labor, protesting outside his dwelling. Anu on Nibiru insisted that the work could not stop. Enki, recognizing the unbearable conditions, pondered a solution. He proposed a radical idea: to create a 'primitive worker,' named Lulu, to shoulder the burden of labor. He revealed that such a being already existed in the Abzu, suggesting they only needed to 'imbue them with the essence of the Anunnaki.' Ninmah, the healer, was summoned to assist in this unprecedented act of genetic engineering.
