Domestic Violence Incidents
Highlights
Xzavier recounts a past incident where his father physically assaulted his mother. He heard the hitting, and the next day, it happened again, leading to police involvement. The father fled and had not returned since then.
Xzavier, his grandmother Gina, and Charlie heard fighting from his mother's room. Xzavier overheard his mother, saying, 'Josh, stop hitting me.' They kicked the door open to find both parents on the bed. They told the father to leave. When Aiden, Xzavier's sibling, also told the father to leave, the father attempted to attack Aiden. The mother, grandmother, and Xzavier intervened to pull the father off Aiden. Someone called the police, but the father left before they arrived.
The next day, the father returned. Xzavier, anticipating further trouble, went to the living room with James and Charlie. He then heard a strange noise outside, which he described as sounding like a cat. He went outside to see his father driving away in a red car, while his mother was on the ground, bleeding. A neighbor also came over, possibly having heard the commotion. The mother moved to another part of the house to shield James and Charlie from the scene. The father has not returned since this day.
Xzavier never directly saw his father hit his mother, but he observed his mother's red, bloodshot face and swollen lip. He noted that his father showed no injuries. Xzavier was particularly angry at his father for attacking Aiden, as Aiden had only repeated the instruction to leave. Xzavier recalls previous instances of his father's aggression towards Aiden, including grabbing him, pushing him against a wall, and smacking him in the face in Florida and Utah when Aiden was in sixth or seventh grade.
The incidents with the parents occurred during the daytime. Recently, the father had been suspecting the mother of infidelity, mentioning her talking to someone at her job. Xzavier also disclosed that his father drinks beer but does not use other drugs, claiming he can't handle them. He noted that his mother occasionally drinks a 'Tall Boy' but not enough to feel any effects, while his father drinks to get 'energy' when relaxing.
