The prank begins with Danny, a new cameraman who works as a delivery driver, being set up to believe he is transporting illegal substances. The pranksters fill his delivery van with boxes containing fake drugs without his knowledge, anticipating his reaction during a staged police stop.
Danny is pulled over by actors posing as police officers for allegedly speeding. Despite his claims of being a delivery driver and showing his route papers, the officers maintain 'probable cause' to search his vehicle due to suspicious activity. They order him out of the van, detain him, and prepare to search the vehicle, increasing his anxiety.
During the search, the fake police 'discover' the illicit substances in the back of Danny's van. He repeatedly asserts his innocence, stating he had no idea what was in the packages. The officers then pretend to call in the FBI due to the amount of contraband, further raising the stakes for Danny.
Danny is interrogated by an actor portraying an FBI agent. He maintains his innocence, explaining his job simply involves transporting packages without inspecting their contents. The agent dismisses his pleas, implying that his ignorance is not a valid defense and that federal charges are looming.
Danny is then taken to a simulated jail cell where he faces intimidating cellmates who threaten him. He is overwhelmed, crying, and desperate to call his mother, but his requests are denied, making the experience feel even more real and terrifying.
Danny is brought before a judge in a fake courtroom setting. The prosecutor presents an opening statement, accusing him of knowingly transporting a significant quantity of controlled substances and being involved in organized distribution, emphasizing the severe nature of the charges.
Danny, distraught, pleads his innocence, explaining he was simply doing his job as a delivery driver and had no knowledge of the van's contents. The prosecutor presents 'evidence' of over 600 kilos of drugs found. The judge, acknowledging his age but emphasizing his adult responsibility, ultimately finds him guilty, stating that ignorance is not a defense for such a serious offense and that he will likely spend the rest of his life in jail with a sentence of 15 years to life.
Just as Danny is being led away after his life sentence, the pranksters reveal themselves. Three individuals, who were witnesses in the fake courtroom, step forward. The immediate shock and relief are evident on Danny's face as he realizes it was all a prank, albeit one that went very far.
