A Futuristic Dystopian Thriller: The Fate of Yuma Miryoku

The government in this futuristic setting actively 'breeds' individuals for specific physical and mental traits, assigning spouses in early childhood to ensure desired offspring. Homosexual or non-straight individuals are subjected to torture or therapy to become 'normal' due to 'population bloating,' a term for those deemed unnecessary for societal function or unwilling to reproduce; failure to conform leads to execution after schooling. The government is also developing semi-biological children by selecting genes, aiming to eventually eliminate the need for spouse selection while still producing perfect offspring.

Yuma Miryoku is the government's first successful attempt at choosing offspring genes, making her 'perfect' and leading to her high school being named after her. Her non-biological mother created her, while her friend North was an earlier, less successful prototype. Yuma and North grew up together, their mothers being best friends, and they are secretly assigned as spouses. Yuma discovers she is destined to die on her 18th birthday, unaware of the 'how' or 'why'.

The government plans to transfer Yuma's consciousness to a 'better' body and needs an excuse for her death before her 18th birthday. The day before her scheduled death, Yuma and North discover they are assigned to be married. North confesses his long-standing love for her. Yuma, falling for him, decides to expose the government's truth to the country, as she is set to die anyway. However, she is killed just before she can reveal the truth, with North witnessing her death.
