Summary
Highlights
The movie begins with a house exploding in fire. A woman wakes up in a hospital after extensive plastic surgery, with no memory of her past. She's told her name is Micky, she's 20, and her parents died years ago. Her aunt Elinor, who raised her, also recently passed away. Micky only remembers the fire and herself sobbing uncontrollably.
Elinor's former PA, Julia, becomes Micky's guardian. Micky receives a letter containing old photos, and Julia identifies her former boyfriend, Jake, and her best friend, Domenica (Do). Julia mentions Do died in the same fire. Micky meets Jake, who gives her keys to her old apartment. There, Micky finds a suitcase with Do's belongings, including letters from Elinor and Do's diary.
Reading Do's diary, Micky discovers their past. Flashbacks show Do and Micky reconnecting in London, with Micky being a model and Do being drawn to her. Their friendship deepens, but Do grows possessive, showing jealousy towards Jake. Do also starts corresponding with Elinor, while trying to emulate Micky's appearance.
Julia reveals the truth. She disliked Micky and manipulated Do, convincing her that Micky was responsible for her father's suicide. Julia outlines a plan for Do to set fire to the house on her birthday, making it look like an accident, and then undergo plastic surgery to become the new Micky and inherit Elinor's fortune.
On Do's birthday, she intoxicates Micky and sets the house ablaze as planned. Do is injured in the fire and loses her memory, leading Julia to believe their scheme was successful, and that the amnesiac woman is Do, now transformed into Micky.
In Southern France, the woman, still believing she is Micky, meets Serge, a man who knows about the plot because he overheard Do and Julia's conversations. He reveals that the real Micky was aware of the plan and faked her intoxication on the night of the fire.
Micky confronts Julia, revealing she recorded her confession. Julia then drops a bombshell: Elinor left everything to Do, not Micky, out of guilt for her affair with Do's father. Julia realizes she's talking to the real Micky. Enraged, Julia tries to drown Micky. Micky flashes back to the night of the fire, remembering that Do, filled with remorse, told her to run before the explosion. Micky kills Julia and escapes, solidifying her identity as Micky by swimming in the ocean, an act Do could never do.
