Dead Space - Intensive Care - Kinesis Module | WikiGameGuides

Introduction & Game's Enduring Scare Factor00:00:00

The video introduces Chapter 2, 'Intensive Care.' The commentator reveals that even after playing levels multiple times, the game still manages to be genuinely scary and challenging under the hard difficulty, especially when using only one gun.

Kinesis Module and Environmental Interaction00:01:24

The guide highlights the acquisition of the Kinesis module, comparing it to Half-Life's gravity gun. It explains its function of picking up and throwing objects, while noting the limited variety of throwable items in Dead Space compared to Half-Life, apart from explosive barrels and non-lethal saw blades.

Plasma Cutter's Secondary Fire and Enemy Spawns00:02:32

The video explains the secondary fire mode of the plasma cutter, which rotates the blade sideways. It also delves into enemy spawn mechanics, revealing that creatures emerge from vents based on the player's location, making it impossible to find a truly 'safe' corner.

Combat Strategy and Looting00:04:10

A key strategy for combat is discussed: cutting off enemy legs to slow them down, making them easier to eliminate. The guide advises clearing areas before entering rooms to avoid being trapped with spawning monsters. It also recommends a thorough search for ammo and health packs after each encounter.

Story Elements and the 'Obelisk'00:06:33

The commentator touches upon the religious undertones discovered in the game's story, noting the presence of video diaries that provide context, similar to BioShock. A blue statue, referred to as an 'obelisk' (or 'tribris'), is pointed out as an important item that will have future significance in the game.
