Since the 19th century, Bodo culture has undergone significant transformation. Modernization has reshaped their material life, including housing and agriculture, as well as their non-material landscape, influencing values, ideologies, and economic philosophies.

The emergence of a professional middle class and the influence of education and technology have fostered a more globalized perspective. Shifts toward religious pluralism, including the adoption of Brahma Dharma and Christianity, have evolved naming conventions while maintaining a strong connection to traditional Bodo surnames.
