Highlights
Coconut Fred, full of ideas for fun, decides to create a newspaper, much to his friends' dismay. He imagines exciting, exaggerated stories like pirates attacking or giant octopuses, and tries to involve everyone in his journalistic endeavors.
Despite his newspaper project, Fred still harbors a strong desire to be a lifeguard. He even tries to combine his two passions, leading to some questionable 'rescue' attempts. Later, Fred attempts to document Mr. Green Rind's nap, misinterpreting his actions and creating a scandalous (and false) headline about 'booger farming'.
Fred's friends are tired of the newspaper and try to distract him with something new. Fred suggests that only a great danger could make him stop. Bingo then pretends to drown, quickly shifting Fred's focus back to his lifeguard aspiration.
Fred temporarily abandons his newspaper to become a lifeguard, 'rescuing' Bingo and attempting to save others with his unusual methods, including CPR with lemon juice.
Fred's next big idea is about 'Silly Hat Wednesday' and a volcano named Melvin. He convinces his friends that the volcano is about to erupt, causing widespread panic despite initial disbelief from Mr. Green Rind, who points out Fred's tendency to manifest his strange ideas.
Consulting a 'Wise Old Tiki head' and an 'ancient scroll of knowledge', Fred and his friends attempt various rituals to appease the volcano, including dancing in flowered shirts and whistling with crackers in their mouths. Mr. Green Rind's attempt at a ritual leads to him falling into the volcano.
Mr. Green Rind reappears, claiming to have tricked Melvin, but the volcano eventually erupts, sending lava down. Fred's 'silly hats' (made from bladder kelp and bubble clams) surprisingly save them from the lava, preventing them from being swept away by the water.
The water level drops, and they realize they are being flushed down the volcano. Despite the perilous situation, Fred remarks that Melvin seems happy, attributing its 'stinky wind' to happiness rather than Mr. Green Rind's flatulence.
