Summary
Highlights
Mr. Williams and his wife are in a heated argument. The wife, in anger, tells Mr. Williams that their children are not his and that she will take them to their 'real father.' These words deeply wound Mr. Williams and become a persistent source of doubt for him.
A pastor intervenes to mediate the conflict between Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Williams expresses remorse for her words, but Mr. Williams struggles to forgive and forget. The emotional toll of the argument continues to affect his behavior at home, alienating his children, and impacting his performance at work.
Mr. Williams is reprimanded at work for his disorganized reports, a direct consequence of his emotional distress. He confides in his boss and the pastor that he is tormented by his wife's words, believing she might have accidentally exposed a long-kept secret about the children's paternity, despite her apology.
Unable to move past his doubts, Mr. Williams demands a DNA test for their children. His wife, deeply hurt by his lack of trust, initially refuses, further fueling his suspicion that the children are not his. He threatens divorce, but his lawyer advises against it, emphasizing the moral implications of breaking a marriage without sufficient cause.
With the support of the pastor, Mrs. Williams eventually agrees to the DNA test to prove her innocence and resolve the matter. Meanwhile, a tragic event unfolds at Mr. Williams' workplace: his colleague, Mr. Balogorivo, is found dead, shot in his car. The police are called to investigate.
Police investigators arrive at Mr. Williams' company. They reveal that Mrs. Balogorivo, the deceased's wife, has identified Mr. Williams as a key suspect. It is revealed that Mr. Williams had a heated argument with Mr. Balogorivo and, in anger, made a threatening statement to him, which is now being used as evidence.
Mr. Williams is arrested and taken into custody for questioning. Despite his pleas of innocence, stating his threats were made in anger and he later apologized, the police hold him due to the damning evidence of his past statement. His wife, also a lawyer, pledges to defend him.
Distraught by her husband's predicament, Mrs. Williams prays for God's intervention. Her child overhears her prayer and, recalling a children's church lesson, reminds her that God may not forgive those who do not forgive others. This prompts Mrs. Williams to reflect on her own actions and forgiveness.
Mr. Williams is depicted as being falsely convicted of murder and sentenced to hang, highlighting the severity of the situation. However, a sudden development occurs at the police station: a gang of armed robbers, arrested for another crime, confesses to killing Mr. Balogorivo during a carjacking attempt.
Forensic evidence confirms the robbers' story, leading to Mr. Williams' exoneration and immediate release. The ordeal serves as a profound lesson for both Mr. and Mrs. Williams about the power of words spoken in anger. Mr. Williams, now understanding the importance of trust and forgiveness, chooses not to collect the DNA test results, affirming his belief in his wife and their children.
