God parts the Red Sea | Moses and Israelites Crossing | Animated Bible Stories | My First Bible | 23
Summary
Highlights
The Israelites, a multitude of over 600,000 people, along with others and their livestock, depart from Egypt towards Canaan, the land promised by God. They leave with little food as their departure was sudden. Moses carries Joseph's bones, fulfilling a prophecy.
God guides the Israelites day and night with a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night, enabling them to travel continuously. This divine guidance never ceases throughout their journey.
God leads the Israelites on a longer desert route, avoiding the land of the Philistines to prevent the people from turning back to Egypt due to potential conflict. They camp by the Red Sea. Meanwhile, Pharaoh, regretting letting them go, mobilizes his army, including 600 chariots, to pursue the Israelites, believing them to be trapped.
The Israelites, camped by the Red Sea, realize Pharaoh's army is closing in, trapping them between the army and the sea. They panic and accuse Moses of leading them to their death. Moses reassures them, telling them not to be afraid and that God will fight for them.
As the Egyptian army approaches, God places the pillar of cloud between them and the Israelites, stopping the Egyptians. God instructs Moses to raise his rod over the Red Sea. A strong wind parts the sea, creating a dry path for the Israelites, their herds, and livestock to cross, surrounded by walls of water.
In the morning, the Israelites are safely on the other side. Pharaoh's army attempts to follow through the parted sea. When they are halfway across, God tells Moses to raise his rod again, and the waters return, engulfing and drowning the entire Egyptian army. The Israelites celebrate their deliverance and trust in God and Moses.
