The video introduces the growing excitement for Kane Pixels' Backrooms movie and the need for a lore recap. It clarifies that Kane's Backrooms lore is distinct from general internet interpretations, emphasizing no levels, specific entity types (life form and still life), and a unique approach to no-clipping with potential ways in and out.
Ivan Beck is born in 1931. In 1972, he builds and tests the low proximity magnetic distortion system. A solar flare and coronal mass ejection cause ground level events (GLEs), leading to a system overload that injures Ivan, affecting his memory and sight, and anchoring him to the complex.
Sometime in the 1980s, Ivan Beck joins A-Sync and becomes vice director, furthering his research. In April 1988, he holds a press conference discussing the system's potential for solving storage and residential needs. On July 2nd, 1988, A-Sync conducts its third system test, nearly achieving their goal but experiencing a plasma arc anomaly, similar to Ivan's earlier injury.
On October 17th, 1989, A-Sync's sixth test of the system causes an intense electromagnetic disturbance, triggering the devastating Loma Prieta earthquake. Despite the widespread damage, A-Sync successfully makes first contact with the complex, establishing a permanent null zone.
In November 1989, A-Sync repairs the threshold and begins charting the immediate area, taking samples of lighting components and ceiling tiles. Analysis reveals the components have minimal wear despite long use. On February 3rd, 1990, an expedition discovers a missing person's body. An autopsy on February 5th reveals the body is infected with a mutated strain of hay bacillus.
On March 1st, 1990, Peter Tench gets separated from his team in the complex after following a crowd. A flash of blue and flickering lights leave him alone. He eventually returns to a transformed threshold. On May 8th, 1990, during a DOE tour, an alarm sounds, and Peter Tench is seen in the outpost. He is revealed to have been missing since March, and A-Sync had faked his death.
On May 6th, 1990, an A-Sync expedition to the pitfall area leads to Marvin falling into a lower floor. He follows what he believes is a person, discovering the 'red neighborhood' and encountering a 'life form'. The footage prompts supervisors to board up the hallway to the pitfall room and install blast walls.
On May 17th, 1990, Peter Tench's drawings suggest trauma. He is believed to have re-entered the complex two days later, attempting to find an exit. On May 25th, 1990, during an A-Sync expedition, Peter ambushes the team, desperately trying to return to his family. He shoots Mark and escapes A-Sync, but ultimately dies by tripping and hitting his head.
On May 29th, 1990, Marvin becomes paranoid about Peter's death, suspecting DOE involvement. A-Sync returns to the pitfall area, constructing a bridge and studying a section of wall where normal texture ends and a stretched texture begins, implying the green light warps reality and shapes the complex.
On June 29th, 1990, furniture salesman Clark discovers and falls into a stable null zone in his basement, obsessively charting the complex. He confides in his therapist, Dr. Mary Kline, who later finds evidence and enters the complex herself. A-Sync expands observations and potentially builds a second outpost near Clark's null zone.
On August 19th, 1995, a girl named Madison falls into the complex after destabilizing a null zone in her garage. She encounters the green light, a life form, and a phenomenon similar to what Mark witnessed. Her fate is unclear. On September 23rd, 1996, a boy named Kane falls into the complex while filming. He wanders through various areas, encounters the life form, and is ultimately killed, with his camera no-clipping out.
Around April 24th, 1997, Ravi hears noises in his basement, finds a hole to the complex, and is pulled in. He wanders for hours, encountering various detailed locations and a humanoid entity. He finds a thin boundary with 'Walten,' who attempts to help him escape but falls in himself, leaving Ravi helpless and in despair. Ravi is later seen in Red City, his final state ambiguous.
