Saturday Evening Session | October 2023 General Conference

The 193rd Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begins its Saturday evening session from Salt Lake City, Utah. President Dallin H. These include building life upon the foundation of Jesus Christ, remembering divine identity as children of a loving Heavenly Father, valuing every soul, maintaining an eternal perspective, and cultivating gratitude.

Elder Joni L. Koch of the Seventy emphasizes the importance of humility as a mandatory requirement to return to God's presence. He defines humility as a willingness to submit to the Lord's will and being teachable, illustrating this concept with personal anecdotes and prophetic counsel on following Church leaders and relying on Christ's Atonement.

Sister Tamara W. Runia, First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency, encourages viewers to adopt an 'eternal lens' or 'eye of faith' to see life, family, and challenges with hope and joy. She shares powerful personal stories, including one about her daughter's double lung transplant, and emphasizes the importance of love, encouragement, and trusting in God's plan for families.

Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles expands on President Russell M. Nelson's call to abandon prejudice and promote respect for all of God's children. He highlights that all are begotten spirit children of Heavenly Parents, equal before God, and encourages cultivating love and unity regardless of differences, drawing parallels to the Nephites' joy and Christ's ministry to the Samaritan woman.

The session concludes with a performance by the choir singing 'Arise, O God, and Shine.' Elder Juan Pablo Villar of the Seventy offers the benediction, expressing gratitude for the messages, the gospel, prophets, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and praying for strength to live according to the teachings received.
