Medical Status Update: Patient in ICU

The patient remains critically ill in the ICU following a GIT bleed. They are mechanically ventilated via tracheostomy on spontaneous mode. Neurological status is GCS 8T/15, and blood gases indicate compensated respiratory acidosis with hypoxemia and hypercapnia.

Blood pressure is fluctuating while heart rate remains stable. The patient is showing signs of acute kidney injury with elevated urea and creatinine levels and a reduced eGFR. CRP levels have improved, though procalcitonin remains high.

The patient is receiving treatment including IV antibiotics, noradrenaline, and blood transfusions for low hemoglobin. Stool microbiology has confirmed the presence of Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC). Nutritional support via nasogastric tube is ongoing.
