Summary
Highlights
As of June 21, 2026, Tropical Storm Francisco (international name: Mekala) is located 1,170 km east of Southeastern Luzon with maximum winds of 110 km/h and gusts up to 135 km/h. It is moving northwest at 25 km/h, remaining far from land but its trough extension will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain, lightning, and thunder to Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is also active in Mindanao, Palawan, and parts of Visayas, bringing scattered, sometimes heavy, rainfall. As Francisco moves northwest, it will enhance the Habagat, leading to widespread rain in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the coming days, with possible strong gusts especially in western sections. Residents in flash flood and landslide prone areas are advised to prepare.
Tropical Storm Francisco is not expected to make landfall throughout the forecast period, though a westward shift could bring it closer to Extreme Northern Luzon. It will move northwest until Tuesday, then northward. It is expected to intensify into a typhoon today, reaching its peak intensity as a typhoon by Monday. Strong winds and heavy rains are possible in Extreme Northern Luzon, including northern and eastern Cagayan, between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wind Signal Number One may be raised over northern and eastern Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, and Batanes by tomorrow morning. Gusty winds due to Habagat are expected today in Siquijor, Camiguin, southern Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Sarangani, extending to Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao by tomorrow and Tuesday. While no gale warning is currently active, rough seas of up to 2.5 meters are possible in the eastern seaboards of Catanduanes and Davao Oriental, with rough seas expected in northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon by Tuesday due to Francisco. The public is urged to stay updated with PAGASA advisories.
