72% of new product and service innovations fail to meet expectations. The Value Proposition Canvas is a tool designed to help visualize, design, and test how new products and services create value for customers.
The customer profile describes the jobs customers try to get done (functional, social, emotional), their pains (annoyances, negative outcomes, risks), and their gains (how they measure success, positive outcomes, benefits).
The value map lists the products and services offered, detailing how they act as pain relievers (eliminating or minimizing customer pains) and gain creators (producing or maximizing desired outcomes and benefits).
Achieving 'fit' means creating a clear connection between customer needs and how your offerings address them. The canvas helps design and iterate value propositions, but a successful product also requires a strong business model, as even a great value proposition can fail if the business model is flawed.
