Kevin and Annie's first day at a new school is difficult. Kevin’s plush toy, Foxy, becomes a target for bullies. Annie is wrongly accused of assault and threatened with expulsion by Principal Vickers, who seems to hold a grudge. They meet Aiden, who is friendly and helps them find their classes. Annie's car breaks down, causing her to be late for work, leading to tension with her boss.
Kevin is bullied by Haley for having his plush toy, Foxy, in class. Meanwhile, Annie's mother, Lauren, the new vice principal, faces an unwelcoming Principal Vickers, who is suspicious of her past at Davenport Prep School and her attempts to review the school's finances.
Annie faces immediate opposition from Macy, the cheer captain, who feels threatened by Annie's impressive cheerleading background. The cheer coach, however, encourages Annie to try out. Lauren's attempts to investigate the school's finances are repeatedly rebuffed by Principal Vickers, raising her suspicions about his conduct.
Lauren reassures Kevin and Annie about their new beginnings, emphasizing that starting over can be fun and they have each other. Unbeknownst to them, Principal Vickers, Macy, and Haley are conspiring to make the siblings miserable and drive them out of the school and even the state.

Kevin finds some support from a new friend, but it becomes clear that Macy and Haley are intimidating other students into avoiding Kevin and Annie.
Annie decides to try out for the cheer team after the coach reveals that Macy is not a good leader. Kevin shares with Annie that students are being warned not to befriend them. Meanwhile, Lauren reaches out for help to investigate the school's suspicious financial activities.
Kevin's Foxy is stolen, escalating the bullying. Annie confronts Macy and Haley, leading to a physical altercation where Macy fakes an injury. Principal Vickers attempts to expel Annie, but Lauren, with the superintendent, intervenes. Lauren presents evidence of Principal Vickers's illegal financial activities and abuse of power, leading to his immediate termination. Lauren is then appointed as the new principal.
With Principal Vickers and his daughters gone, the school environment improves. Kevin is recognized for indirectly exposing the corruption, and Foxy is returned to him. The family finds joy and a sense of belonging in their new school.
