Summary
Highlights
A naive village girl, Lakshmi, is lured into a trap of human trafficking under false pretenses of marriage. She finds herself in a brothel called Dharam Vilas, run by a ruthless pimp named Chinna and his associate Reddy Garu. She is forced into prostitution and faces unimaginable horrors.
Lakshmi, with the help of a social worker, manages to escape the brothel and tries to file a complaint against her tormentors. However, the corrupt system and the influence of Chinna and Reddy Garu make it difficult for her to seek justice.
A determined police officer, who had previously gone undercover at the brothel, helps Lakshmi pursue her case. Lakshmi bravely decides to testify in court, despite the threats and intimidation from Chinna and Reddy Garu. She is supported by a lawyer who initially doubts her ability to withstand the court's pressure.
During the trial, the lawyer presents a sting operation video as evidence, exposing the illicit activities at Dharam Vilas. The defense tries to discredit Lakshmi's testimony, but a crucial witness, Dr. Muralidaran, Reddy Garu's personal doctor, reveals a shocking truth: Reddy Garu suffers from AIDS and believed that having intercourse with a virgin could cure him, explaining why they targeted young girls like Lakshmi. He also revealed that Lakshmi was given estrogen injections to make her appear older and more developed. It is also revealed that Lakshmi's own father sold her to the traffickers, and Corporator Radha, a seemingly respectable woman, was also involved in the trafficking ring.
Despite attempts to bribe and intimidate her, Lakshmi stands firm. The court eventually finds Chinna, Reddy Garu, Lakshmi's father, and Corporator Radha guilty under the Immoral Traffic Act and IPC. They are sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay compensation to Lakshmi and other victims. Lakshmi's bravery inspires other victims to come forward, marking a victory against human trafficking and a new beginning for Lakshmi and many others.
