Highlights
Romeo, in exile in Mantua, receives news from Balthazar that Juliet is dead. Shocked, he plans to return to Verona to commit suicide and be reunited with her, purchasing deadly poison from an apothecary.
Back in Verona, Friar Lawrence discovers his letter, explaining Juliet's feigned death, never reached Romeo. Worried, he rushes to Juliet's tomb.
At the Capulet Vault, Paris is mourning Juliet when Romeo arrives. Believing Romeo is desecrating the tomb, Paris confronts him, leading to a fight where Paris is slain.
Romeo finds Juliet in the tomb, noting her lifelike beauty, unaware she is only in a deep sleep. He drinks the poison and dies by her side.
Friar Lawrence arrives moments too late, finding Romeo and Paris dead. Juliet awakens, sees Romeo, and in despair, kisses him, then stabs herself with his dagger.
