A112 Cultures Module Overview

The A112 Cultures module is a Level 1 module worth 60 credits, starting on October 3, 2026. The module website will be accessible from September 9, 2026, and tutor details will be available shortly after. Students were registered on May 22, 2026.

The module includes five Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs): TMA 01 due November 12, 2026; TMA 02 due December 17, 2026; TMA 03 due February 11, 2027; TMA 04 due March 18, 2027; and TMA 05 due April 15, 2027. These dates are provisional until the module website opens. Assignment questions and guidance will be on the module assessment page. The Assessment Calculator is not available for this module, and a plagiarism policy is in place.

The final date to defer the module is May 19, 2027. Students can view tutorial details and contact their Student Support Team for any inquiries, including changing the qualification this module counts towards. This module is intended for the BA (Honours) Classical Studies.

Essential set books for the module include 'Jane Eyre' by C. Bronte and 'Twelfth Night: The Oxford Shakespeare' by W. Shakespeare, which all students must purchase. Additionally, students choosing the English Literature option EMA must purchase one of two options: 'Great Expectations' by C. Dickens or 'A Midsummer Night's Dream: The Oxford Shakespeare' by W. Shakespeare.
