Many children in Ghana are abandoned and enslaved in the fishing industry. Rescue is just the beginning, as they require extensive medical care that is often unavailable. The video introduces Ernest and Richmond, two brothers who were sold into slavery and later rescued.
The brothers were rescued by GMAD, an organization dedicated to combating child slavery. GMAD provides shelter, rehabilitation, and education to help these children build new lives. Many of the rescued children need medical attention, which is difficult to access due to overcrowded hospitals.
Austin, the executive director of GMAD, explains the challenges of providing medical care to survivors. The existing hospital is far and overcrowded. Recognizing this need, construction began on a new surgical center at the GMAD compound to provide adequate medical care.
The video shows the positive environment at the GMAD compound, where the children are happy and supported. Cory and Stacy Hoffman founded GMAD 12 years ago to advocate for children who have no one else.
Volunteer surgeons share their experiences, noting the high demand for treatment and the severity of the cases they encounter. Despite the challenges, they are motivated by the resilience and positive attitude of the people they help.
After months of construction, the new surgical center is completed and unveiled. It will enable GMAD to provide treatment to more children and families in the community. Mary, a young girl with deformed legs, is one of the first patients to benefit from the new facility.
The video encourages viewers to donate to GMAD to support their work in rescuing children from slavery and providing them with the care they deserve. Special thanks is given to Ox Blue for donating the time-lapse cameras used in the video.
