Objectives of the Scheme

The Tea Board's Tea Development & Promotion Scheme is designed to boost Indian tea production, productivity, and quality to remain competitive in global markets. It also focuses on the long-term sustainability of the tea business and the livelihoods of all involved stakeholders, including producers and employees.

Entrepreneurship and Employment

The scheme generates employment and features sub-components that promote entrepreneurship, particularly among young people in the tea industry. This includes initiatives like creating tea production units, adding value to products, and supporting brand promotion for start-ups.

Production Enhancement Initiatives

From 2023-2024 to 2025-2026, the Tea Development & Promotion Scheme provides training to small tea growers on field management techniques. It also offers assistance for growing new tea nurseries and for transplanting old and less productive tea trees, all with the goal of increasing overall tea production.
