Insiang lives a difficult life in the slums. Her mother, Tonya, constantly scolds and belittles her, especially regarding their financial struggles. Despite Insiang's efforts to contribute, Tonya remains critical. The arrival of Dado, Tonya's live-in lover, further complicates Insiang's life, as he quickly begins to harass and exploit her.
Dado moves into their home, intensifying the tension between Insiang, Tonya, and Dado. Insiang confides in her friend, Bebot, about her desire to escape her difficult home life. Bebot promises commitment and marriage, offering her a glimmer of hope. However, Bebot's commitment is questionable, and Insiang's attempts to leave her current situation are met with resistance and further complications.
Following a visit from Bebot, Insiang is confronted by Tonya, who accuses her of infidelity and disrespect, fueled by Dado's manipulations. Dado falsely implicates Insiang in an affair, leading to a violent confrontation between Tonya and Insiang. Insiang, feeling betrayed by Bebot and tormented by Dado, eventually seeks escape with Bebot, who takes her to a motel. However, Bebot abandons her the next morning, leaving her to face a new level of desperation.
Insiang returns home, only to be further humiliated by Tonya and Dado. Faced with unrelenting abuse and betrayal, Insiang meticulously plans her revenge. She begins to manipulate Dado, making him believe he has a chance with her.
Insiang seduces Dado, initiating a secret affair. She then orchestrates a confrontation between Tonya and Dado, revealing their affair in a way that fuels Tonya's rage and jealousy. Insiang's calculated actions lead to Tonya violently attacking Dado, ultimately resulting in his death. Insiang visits her mother in prison, where she reveals the full extent of her manipulation and her desire for revenge. She admits that everything she told her mother about Dado's infidelity was a lie, orchestrated to incite Tonya to murder him.
