Highlights
Dunk interrupts a private gathering of Targaryen royals, including Prince Baelor Targaryen, while attempting to gain entry into an upcoming tournament. He explains that Ser Manfred Dondarrion refused to vouch for him.
Dunk speaks of his former master, Ser Arlan of Pennytree, highlighting his past achievements in tournaments, such as unhorsing Lord Stokeworth and even Sir Damon Lannister, the 'Grey Lion,' many years ago. This catches the attention of Prince Baelor.
Prince Baelor recounts his own joust against Ser Arlan years ago, stating he broke four lances before unhorsing him. Dunk, having previously heard a more exaggerated tale of seven lances from Arlan, mistakenly corrects Baelor, who then gently corrects Dunk, saying it was only four. Dunk apologizes for his error.
Despite the gaffe, Prince Baelor recalls Ser Arlan's character and his praise for Baelor's chivalry. Baelor agrees to allow Dunk to enter the lists, stating that he sees no reason to deny him, to Dunk's gratitude.
Prince Baelor reminds Dunk that he is not of Ser Arlan's blood and therefore cannot legally inherit his arms. Dunk acknowledges this and states he will find a new sigil of his own. Dunk departs, promising to fight bravely.
