Highlights
Jenny and Steve embark on a romantic weekend trip to Eden Lake, a beautiful spot about to be developed. Their peaceful start is disturbed by a group of unruly teenagers led by Brett, who harass them and play loud music. Steve's attempts to reason with them are met with hostility, and the teenagers steal their car keys and then their car.
The couple encounters the teenagers again, who are torturing an animal. A confrontation ensues, leading to Steve accidentally wounding Brett's dog, Bonnie, which then dies. Enraged, Brett and his friends pursue Steve and Jenny. Their car crashes, impaling Steve, who urges Jenny to seek help. She hides as the teenagers brutally attack Steve.
Jenny discovers Steve tied to a post and tortured by the teenagers. Brett forces his friends to participate, filming the gruesome act. Jenny attempts to call for help using her phone's Bluetooth connected to Steve's, but Brett discovers her presence. Steve yells at her to run, allowing him to escape his bonds while Jenny evades the chasing teenagers.
Jenny and Steve briefly reunite in a cabin where Jenny discovers Steve's engagement ring. The teenagers quickly find them again, forcing them to flee. Steve, severely wounded, tells Jenny to go for help, and she puts on the ring, accepting his proposal. Jenny then steps on a spike, attracting the teenagers. She meets Adam, one of the younger teens, who leads her further into the woods before revealing he has been communicating with the others.
Jenny wakes up tied beside a deceased Steve. Brett, threatening Adam, forces him to set Steve's body on fire. Jenny breaks free, creates a fire barrier, and escapes. Brett then sets Adam on fire, an act that horrifies even his friends. Jenny finds a map and hides in a dumpster, later encountering Cooper, whom she accidentally kills in a desperate act of self-defense.
Brett discovers Cooper's body, and in a rage, brutally beats Harry for wanting to leave. Jenny reaches the main road and is picked up by Reece, only to realize he is Ricky's brother, an accomplice to the murders. She escapes in his van, runs over Paige, and crashes into a yard. She discovers she is at Brett's house. The parents, who are all connected to the teenagers, refuse to believe her story. John, Brett's father, asserts that the town protects its own. John and other men drag Jenny away, as Brett retreats to his room, deletes evidence, and puts on Steve's sunglasses, signifying his complete transformation into a psychopath.
