The video opens by introducing Black Bull Village, a mysterious place linked to Yama. Liu Ye, abandoned there as a child, is the only living human. His 'mother' and 'father' attempt to encourage him to drink a special soup for nourishment, which causes strange side effects. The villagers, who are revealed to be supernatural beings, decide it's time for Liu Ye to leave the village. They concoct a story about a new sibling and the need for him to find a job outside, ultimately celebrating his departure with a 'Liberation Day'.
Liu Ye encounters a 'weird world' upon leaving his village. He is met with a "Welcome to the Weird World" sign and receives a 'backpack' that acts as an interface. The interface shows his stats (LV9999 for various attributes) and assigns him a 'newbie' mission: "Cab in the countryside" to arrive at Huicheng alive. He accepts the mission and soon finds himself in a red taxi.
Liu Ye gets into a taxi where the driver is heartbroken over his cheating wife. The driver attempts to scare Liu Ye, who remains unfazed and inadvertently causes chaos, including blowing up the taxi with a 'grenade' (a gift from his 'mother'). The confused driver blames Liu Ye for his misfortunes. Liu Ye, using his unexpected strength and a large truncheon (which he calls a 'gun'), helps the driver find a new 'car' – a tricycle – to continue their journey to the city, impressing the driver with his resilience.
Upon arriving in the city, the mission 'Suburban cab' is completed, and Liu Ye is rewarded with a 'Type 52 Infantry Gun' and a new skill, 'Righteous Big Pussy Doodle'. The taxi driver, now terrified of Liu Ye, tries to get rid of him. Liu Ye, in need of a place to stay, is directed to the Rose Apartment by the reluctant driver, who introduces him to Mr. Wu, the building manager. Liu Ye then gets a new mission: to stay in Room 404 of the Rose Apartment for seven days, described as a '404 Phantom of Murder' quest.
Liu Ye settles into Room 404, oblivious to the fact that Mr. Wu and the taxi driver hoped the room's supernatural elements would eliminate him. That night, Liu Ye accidentally causes the toilet to 'explode', injuring Mr. Wu, who was trying to scare him. Later, Liu Ye's new 'roommate', a shadow creature, attempts to attack him in his sleep, but Liu Ye, misunderstanding the situation, beats him up. The driver explains to Liu Ye that he's in a real-life horror game, where he must complete missions to survive and grow stronger.
Liu Ye and other players are teleported to Willow Creek Village for a new mission: to survive a wedding and obtain an 'empty cicada pendant'. Liu Ye, still thinking it's a game, cheerfully interacts with the seemingly normal villagers, who are actually supernatural beings. He even gives 'onions' as a gift to his 'brother and sister-in-law' – ghost hosts who are initially bewildered but eventually accept the gesture. Liu Ye's innocence and gifts seem to soften the strange entities.
During the night, one of the players discovers that the supposed 'bride' is a decaying corpse. Later, in the morning, the other players are surprised to find that Liu Ye has an 'immunity medal' (the cicada pendant) and seems to have befriended the ghostly family. They learn from Liu Ye (who overheard during a game of mahjong) that the bride, Fang Xiaoqian, was sold for 10 taels of silver. This information provides a crucial clue to the true nature of the 'wedding' - a sacrificial ceremony.
The players attend the wedding, where Liu Ye's unexpected strength and positive interactions with the ghostly beings continue to bewilder his teammates. While helping in the kitchen, Liu Ye accidentally reveals that the host hasn't bought food for the banquet, leading to an angry confrontation. Later, Liu Ye discovers the bride, Wang Weiwei, to be a ghost and, thinking she needs help with her appearance, grooms her. During the ceremony, the players attempt to interrupt the ritual, believing it to be a sacrifice.
As the ritual progresses, the 'groom' is revealed to be a chicken, causing chaos. The butler, who is orchestrating the ceremony, attempts to summon an 'Exalted One'. Liu Ye, however, had previously encountered and scared away what seems to be the Exalted One's physical manifestation. The butler, frustrated, then unleashes an 'iron corpse' that he had been cultivating for 200 years. To his dismay, Liu Ye had unknowingly used the iron corpse's body as firewood for cooking.
The 'Cicada' mission is completed, with Liu Ye receiving rewards, including a 'Binding Card' that allows him to host a 'Spooky' entity. The other players are amazed and terrified by Liu Ye's ability to turn dangerous situations into mundane 'games'. They plot to get rid of him, even considering hiring assassins, but realize that Liu Ye's unique nature makes him immune to conventional threats. Liu Ye then announces he has earned enough money to build a big house and returns to Black Bull Village, leaving the bewildered players behind.
