Summary
Highlights
Prajakta and Rohan, along with their friends Ayan and Arpita, are searching for a new 2 BHK flat in Kolkata. After struggling to find affordable options, they are offered a surprisingly cheap 2 BHK for ₹8,000 near the airport. Despite some initial oddities, like a circular wax mark on the floor and empty upper floors, they are captivated by the flat's spaciousness and rooftop views. Prajakta senses negative energy but is dismissed by Rohan.
The flat's layout includes a master bedroom for Rohan and a second bedroom for Ayan. Prajakta finds a dried Tulsi plant surrounded by bangles and red cloth on Ayan's balcony, indicating possible rituals. The building secretary's strict instruction to always leave the terrace gate open is another red flag. Rohan experiences sleep paralysis and shortness of breath, followed by arguments and a pervasive sense of negativity in the flat.
Arpita hears someone running in the hall when she's alone. Later, Prajakta hears a waiting dial tone on Rohan's phone, but no one is calling from his locked phone, fueling her suspicion. Rohan experiences a severe fever and partial paralysis, with his teeth clenching, an event locally called 'dant lagna.' They start hearing utensils banging in the kitchen at night, and electrical appliances turn on by themselves, eventually breaking down. The 11-month security deposit traps them financially.
One night, Prajakta and Rohan hear a large plastic sheet flapping in the hall. The sound moves towards their room, and their door opens and closes, terrifying them. Prajakta recites the Hanuman Chalisa, and the sound stops. The next day, while combing her hair on the balcony, Prajakta throws loose hair down, but it floats upwards, and she feels a presence gripping her, leaving her unable to move or speak until Ayan arrives. These incidents confirm their fears that the flat is haunted.
Rohan's family visits the flat. His aunt, sensitive to energies, immediately feels a negative presence. Rohan's mother meets a former tenant on the terrace who lived in the same flat (4B) and experienced domestic abuse and paranormal activity, including a doorbell ringing at 3:30 a.m. and mysterious sounds. The previous tenant also performed rituals to ward off evil. Later, Rohan's younger brother and cousin see a man walking on his hands and knees with long hair in the hall, confirming a visible entity.
After Rohan's family leaves, Rohan gets into an accident, leaving his younger brother alone with Ayan and Arpita. Rohan's brother hears someone in Rohan's room despite Rohan being away. Rohan and Prajakta's relationship deteriorates, and Prajakta moves back to her PG. Ayan's attempts to cleanse the flat with various rituals fail. Arpita confides that she has been hearing a shadowy figure with long hair on the terrace, who speaks about love and loss. Arpita's friend, Misty, visits and becomes obsessed with the rooftop. Misty experiences possession, drinking hot tea in one gulp and later, her hair is combed into the same style as the shadowy figure. Misty is found on the edge of the roof, and upon being brought down, spits on an 'Om' symbol.
Misty starts banging her head against the wall, a scene captured on video and sent to Rohan. Ayan takes Misty to a shrine, where she is advised to never return to the flat, and they are warned to vacate the premises immediately or face dire consequences. Rohan returns, and they finally abandon the flat, losing their 11-month security deposit. Prajakta and Rohan eventually marry and recover, while Ayan and Arpita break up. The true identity of the spirit remains unknown. The story concludes with a plea to viewers for any information about similar incidents in the area.
