Orange and his crew, aboard the USS Fruiterprise, are under attack by Commander Broccoli of the Starship Cruciferous. Despite Orange's attempts to annoy them, the Fruiterprise takes heavy damage and crashes on a strange planet.
Orange wants to help, but intergalactic law prevents them from interfering in regional conflicts. However, they discover a loophole: they can intervene if a crew member is harmed. Midget Apple is conveniently hit, allowing them to join the fight.
The crew's weapons are ineffective against the monster. Orange devises a plan to trap the monster in the boiling caramel lake. They use Midget Apple as bait, tricking the monster into jumping into the lake, which melts him down to liquid sugar.
The marshmallows celebrate their victory and thank Orange and his crew. With the ship repaired, the crew bids farewell to Marshmalia and Marshmallow's family, anticipating their next adventure.
The crew crash-lands on Marshmalia, a whimsical planet filled with pink bunnies, unicorns, and a caramel lake, which Marshmallow reveals to be his home planet. Nerville, the engineer, has rendered the ship inoperable by using the mainframe wiring for a lanyard.
Marshmallow explains that the Big Rock Candy Monster, a jealous entity, has been trying to destroy Marshmalia for centuries. The monster blames marshmallows for the decline of rock candy's popularity in desserts like s'mores.
Marshmallow's father, the King of Marshmalia, is overjoyed by his son's return and declares a three-day feast to celebrate and welcome his friends. Nerville uses this time to try and fix the ship.
During the feast, the Big Rock Candy Monster attacks, setting marshmallows on fire. The marshmallows try to fight back with jelly cannons, but their efforts are largely ineffective.
