Urgent Appeal for Afghan Refugee Sara Mehraeen's Asylum in Canada

Sara Mehraeen, an Afghan national with a pending Canadian Private Sponsorship of Refugees application, was arrested in Islamabad on January 31, 2026, and despite her warnings to immigration authorities, was deported to Afghanistan on February 1, 2026. She is now in Kabul, facing perilous living conditions, significant health problems, and a severe lack of medical and family support. Visa issues prevent her return to Pakistan, and her health has deteriorated severely since her deportation.

There is an urgent need to contact IRCC to ascertain the status of her application and to request expedited processing given her critical circumstances. Additionally, options for safe travel to Canada must be explored. Her Canadian sponsors in Ottawa remain committed to her arrival and are urgently requesting humanitarian consideration for her case.
