The movie opens with Elizabeth Bennett, an aspiring writer, reflecting on societal expectations for women to marry. She introduces her diverse roommates: Jane, a sweet and perfect girl; Lydia, a flirtatious landlord; Kitty, Lydia's impressionable younger sister; and Mary, an awkward intellectual. Elizabeth's long-held wish is to be a great writer, a dream her father encouraged.

The sisters prepare for a party hosted by Charles Bingley and his sister Caroline. Elizabeth learns Bingley is wealthy, sparking conversation amongst them. At the party, Jane immediately connects with Charles Bingley. Elizabeth, however, avoids the persistent Collins and has a tense, insulting first encounter with Mr. Darcy, deepening her initial dislike for him. Jack Wickham also arrives and hints at a troubled past with Darcy, further fueling Elizabeth's negative perception.

Elizabeth receives an offer from a publishing agent, leading to celebration, but she also faces a persistent and unwanted marriage proposal from Collins, which she firmly rejects. Jack Wickham recounts a story of Darcy's unfair treatment, including stealing his inheritance and interfering in his relationship with Darcy's sister, solidifying Elizabeth's poor opinion of Darcy. At a business lunch, Darcy, revealed to be the 'D' in D&G Publishing, offers Elizabeth a contract for her novel but harshly critiques her writing, leading to a heated argument and Elizabeth's firm refusal due to his perceived arrogance and past actions towards Jack and Charles. Darcy later writes a letter to Elizabeth, clarifying the truth about Jack Wickham's deceit and his sister's elopement crisis. He also explains his perceived interference in Charles and Jane's relationship, stating Charles believed Jane was engaged to another.

After receiving conflicting information from Darcy and Wickham, Elizabeth struggles with who to believe. Jane is heartbroken when Charles Bingley suddenly leaves without saying goodbye. Elizabeth is offered a Teaching Assistant position in London, providing an opportunity for a fresh start. The sisters console each other and prepare for Elizabeth's departure.

While hiking, Elizabeth gets lost in a storm and finds refuge at a cabin, where she is surprised to discover Mr. Darcy and his sister, Anna. They share a pleasant evening, with Darcy correcting some of Elizabeth's misunderstandings about him and even discussing her novel. However, the evening ends with Caroline Bingley's arrival, subtly hinting at Darcy's engagement to her, leaving Elizabeth disheartened.

Lydia elopes with Jack Wickham to Las Vegas, causing panic among her sisters. Elizabeth, Jane, and Mary embark on a frantic road trip to stop the wedding. Elizabeth calls Darcy for help, who is closer to Vegas, and rushes to intervene. They arrive just as the wedding is about to begin. Darcey, through the intervention of the police, stops the wedding by revealing Wickham's past bigamy and other illegal activities, leading to his arrest.

Charles and Jane reunite, and Charles confirms his love for Jane. Darcy confesses his feelings to Elizabeth, admitting his mistakes and expressing his sincere love for her. Elizabeth, now understanding the full truth and seeing his true character, realizes her feelings for him. The movie concludes with a montage of their future: Lydia becomes a successful motivational speaker, Kitty a cheerleader coach, Mary marries Collins, Caroline marries a wealthy older man, Jane and Charles live happily in South America, and Elizabeth pursues her writing career, eventually accepting Darcy's proposal and introducing him to her parents.
