Summary
Highlights
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a subtle disease that requires diligence and patience in performing treatment exercises. This patience is a fundamental guiding principle, as 'Allah is with the patient' and 'Allah loves the patient'. If Allah loves a servant, He guides them to Paradise.
Even if the treatment seems difficult, the effort and patience invested will be rewarded by Allah, whether a cure is immediately achieved or not. Many individuals have found healing simply through patience with treatment and exercises, even without formal therapy sessions. This patience is a spiritual struggle (jihad of the self).
There is no success without patience, whether it's in studies, wealth, work, or marriage. The Quran even prioritizes patience over prayer in certain contexts, emphasizing its profound importance. For instance, 'Seek help through patience and prayer,' with patience mentioned first.
To overcome OCD, one must not shy away from the effort. It requires delving into understanding the disease, its symptoms, and the steps of treatment, such as refocusing techniques and performing exercises. This entire process demands continuous patience.
Inspired by the patience of prophets like Noah, who endured for 950 years, and Job, individuals with OCD are encouraged to embrace patience. Practicing patience ensures Allah's love and support are with you. Therefore, it is crucial to bear difficulties with patience and effort to achieve healing.
