Erica McKenzie grew up in a small town in Nebraska, a place where everyone knew everyone. Despite opportunities to participate in many activities, she developed immense self-pressure in junior high, battling bulimia from the age of 12 due to feelings of inadequacy. This struggle continued into adulthood, further exacerbated when she became addicted to a prescription diet pill called Fen-Phen (phentermine), which she secretly took for nine years. The drug, akin to speed, caused severe side effects like insomnia and breathing difficulties, leading to manic behaviors and a complete denial of her deteriorating health to her husband.
Erica's health crisis escalated, causing her to feel like she was dying. Her husband, worried but unaware of her addiction, insisted she get rest at a hotel. Unable to find a room, she began to experience extreme lightheadedness and a premonition of death. Fleeing the second hotel in a panic, she ran barefoot into the parking lot, where a man speaking broken English came to her aid. He drove her to his church, where the pastor, realizing her critical state, asked her if she believed in God. With her last breath, Erica affirmed her belief and passed away.
Upon leaving her body, Erica felt an incredible sense of freedom and exhilaration. She observed paramedics attempting to revive her body with a detached admiration, realizing her physical form was not her true self. She then felt an angelic presence, enveloping her in love, and ascended through a tunnel at supersonic speed, filled with overwhelming love. In this non-physical state, her senses were unconfined, allowing her to deeply feel and understand the angel's connection without needing to see them physically.
The angelic presence was replaced by an even more overwhelming presence of God. Erica found herself in a galaxy of stars, experiencing a profound sense of 'home.' God communicated with her telepathically, answering her thoughts with love. A 'life review' unfolded before her, projected on a curtain of stars, showing every moment of her life from birth. Initially, she worried about judgment based on her Christian upbringing, but God revealed that judgment is the opposite of love and that self-judgment was her own undoing. This experience taught her the importance of self-love and non-judgment towards others.
God then presented Erica with giant eyeglasses and instructed her to look again. This second review showcased moments of pure, selfless love and service that she had previously overlooked, like brushing an elderly woman's hair and singing to her as a child. God emphasized that these small acts were what truly mattered. She then saw an immense bookshelf filled with gifts, learning that God had bestowed upon her gifts like patience and beauty at birth. Contradicting her earthly perception, God clarified that true beauty emanates from within the heart, a revelation that brought her immense relief and a deep understanding of her inherent worth.
Erica witnessed the Earth engulfed in flames, experiencing intense fear for her loved ones. She then saw souls ascending into heaven, unscathed by the fire, bringing her relief. However, she also perceived God's profound sadness for the souls who were not ascending, those who were 'left behind.' God explained that he grants all his children the gift of life and free will, the choice to connect with his love. The 'love connection' is the essential energy needed for souls to ascend. God's sorrow was for those who chose not to embrace this connection.
Expecting to join the souls in heaven, Erica was stopped by God, who told her she was not staying. He gave her two new gifts – knowledge and wisdom – and instructed her to return to Earth to use her combined gifts to change millions of lives. She was then pushed back through a slow, terrifying tunnel, filled with negative human voices and hands pulling at her, draining her life force. Crying out to God, she re-established her love connection, which propelled her back to her body in the emergency room. Upon regaining consciousness, she tried to share her experience but was diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to the unusual circumstances of her supposed mental break. Eventually, she convinced her husband of her near-death experience, leading them to understand the profound transformation she had undergone.
Erica now lives with a renewed purpose, emphasizing the importance of letting go of ego and embracing God's love. She works in hospice nursing, driven by a desire for everyone to experience the peaceful understanding of death she found. Her mission is to remind people that they are loved, valuable, and that life is a precious gift to be lived with purpose and to make a difference.
