TECHNOLOGY BASED ARTS / ELEMENTS OF ART/ CHARACTERISTICS & FILIPINO ADAPTATION / QUARTER 2/MODULE 1
Summary
Highlights
The learning objectives include identifying art elements in technology-based production arts, recognizing characteristics of modern art, naming 21st-century Filipino digital artists, and describing how they were influenced by technology.
The seven most common elements of art are discussed: line, shape, value, form, texture, color, and space. Each element is defined with examples of how it contributes to an artwork's meaning and perception.
21st-century art is characterized by being digitally produced, easy to reproduce, allowing communication between artist and audience, being easily accessible and shareable, and using various qualities of art elements for visual effects.
Digital art emerged in the early 1960s, driven by developing technology. Early experimenters were often engineers and scientists. The video highlights pioneering digital artists such as Frieder Nake, Georg Nees, Vera Molnar, Manfred Mohr, and Olga Kiselyova, who explored artistic expression through scientific and mathematical principles.
The video introduces Filipino digital artists: Antonio Gerardo, a traditional painter who embraced digital painting; Anina Rubio, a visual artist, muralist, and environmental advocate; and Ronnie Del Carmen, an acclaimed animation writer, director, and story artist for Pixar films like 'Inside Out' and 'Up'.
Further international digital artists are presented: Jean-Pierre Hébert, a pioneer of algorithmic digital drawings; Ronald Ron Davis, an American painter known for abstract illusionism and 3D computer graphics; Kaya Oldecker, a versatile fantasy artist from the UK; and Evgeny Parvenov, a freelance illustrator from Moscow with an impressive client list.
