Through these actions, Lumawig taught the different communities and provided them with the resources and skills they possess to this day, establishing specialized roles for various groups.
In the beginning, the great spirit Lumawig descended from the sky and created the first people by cutting reads, dividing them into pairs, and placing them in different parts of the world. He commanded them to speak, and they instantly became men and women with distinct languages. Lumawig then instructed them to marry and have children, leading to the population of the Earth.
Lumawig observed that people needed essential resources. He created salt and instructed the inhabitants of one place to boil it down and sell it, but they failed to understand his directions. Consequently, he took the salt from them and gave it to the people of a place called Min, who successfully followed his instructions and were designated as the perpetual owners and sellers of salt.
Next, Lumawig went to the people of Bontoc and told them to make pots from clay. They gathered the clay but could not mold the pots properly. Due to their failure, Lumawig decreed that they would always have to buy their jars. He then moved the pottery-making task to Soki, where the people skillfully made well-shaped and beautiful jars. Lumawig recognized their aptitude and declared them the rightful owners and perpetual makers of pottery to sell.
