Evaluation of Module Effectiveness in Filipino Subject

This study aims to assess the content, organization, activities, and evaluation of a module's suitability and helpfulness for student learning. It also intends to provide recommendations for further improvement, especially given the significant role modules play in Filipino subject learning under the K to 12 curriculum. Research by Oclinaria (2021) showed that clear, organized, and effective modules expand knowledge, develop various skills, and enhance learning experiences, acting as guides for deeper understanding and active learning. The study is grounded in the ideas of Tomlinson (1998), Richards and Rodgers (2001), and Kitao (1997), who highlighted the importance of appropriate teaching materials and communicative teaching methods for enhancing student knowledge and skills.

A descriptive-analytical design was employed to evaluate the module's effectiveness. Grade 11 students who used and reviewed the module participated in the study. Data was collected through questionnaires and written feedback, gathering their perspectives and experiences. The module was assessed across aspects like content, linguistic knowledge, research knowledge, creative activities, and evaluation, using a 5-point Likert Scale. The collected data and student suggestions were used to gauge the module's quality and formulate recommendations for enhancement.

The study found that the module is beneficial for student learning in the Filipino subject. Students positively evaluated the module's content and evaluation, indicating its effectiveness as a teaching tool for expanding knowledge and improving understanding of lessons. While generally accepted as an effective way to broaden student knowledge, some students suggested that more comprehensive information and complete statements could further address their learning needs. Overall, the use of the module significantly contributes to improving the teaching and learning process.
