Highlights
Supercell is introducing massive changes to Clash of Clans, aiming to remove friction and make the game more enjoyable. Key updates include no more army training or Hero healing delays, army recipes, unlimited attacks, easier Wall upgrades, and cheaper Gem costs. The biggest change will be to matchmaking.
Multiplayer attacks will be split into two new modes: Battles and Ranked Battles. This separation addresses the issue of a single matchmaking system not suiting all players, allowing casual players to enjoy without trophy pressure and competitive players to test strategies without risk. Both modes will offer boosted Star and League Bonuses, plus new rewards.
Battles are available to everyone based on Home Village level, with matchmaking based on Town Hall level and offering unlimited attacks. Ranked Battles unlock at Town Hall 7, use League-based matchmaking, have limited attacks per tournament, and introduce battle modifiers in top Leagues. Legends League remains the top tier, with weekly tournaments and the ability to mix modes for Star Bonuses.
Shields are simplified, functioning more like Guard, allowing players to attack without losing shield time. Trophies are removed from regular Battles, and a new Trophy system will be introduced for Ranked Battles. Players' highest scores will be permanently displayed on their profiles. The September Season is extended to October 6th, giving players more time to push their Trophies, as this score will determine placement in the new League system. Only the best players will qualify for the new Legend League.
Top Ranked Leagues will feature difficulty modifiers, similar to a less brutal 'Hard Mode,' with difficulty increasing as players climb. The League All-Star Achievement will be removed soon, so players are encouraged to reach Crystal, Master, or Champion for free Gems before it's gone. New achievements will be added for the new Leagues.
