Highlights
Ichabod Crane, a smart and friendly teacher, moves to Tarry Town, near the haunted valley of Sleepy Hollow. He opens a schoolhouse and teaches singing, quickly endearing himself to the local children and community.
Ichabod meets Katrina Van Tassel, the beautiful daughter of a rich farmer, and is determined to win her heart. However, he faces a rival in Brom Van Brunt, who also pursues Katrina.
Despite Brom's persecution, Ichabod continues his plan to win Katrina's heart. He attends a party at Katrina's house, where he socializes and impresses her with his dancing.
At the party, the townspeople share scary stories, including the tale of the Headless Horseman, a legendary spectre with a pumpkin head that haunts Sleepy Hollow and Tarry Town.
Feeling good after the party, Ichabod rides home. As he approaches a bridge, he encounters a mysterious dark figure. The figure chases him, and Ichabod realizes it is the Headless Horseman, who then throws his pumpkin head at Ichabod.
Ichabod disappears after his encounter with the Headless Horseman, leaving the townspeople to wonder about his fate. His story becomes another part of the lore surrounding Sleepy Hollow.
