Despite Morgoth's encroaching power, Barahir refused to abandon Dorthonion. As his forces were systematically hunted, the region transformed into a dark, cursed land known as Taur-nu-Fuin, where the forest became a place of dread, madness, and phantom terrors that even Orcs avoided.
The Leadership of Emeldir the Manhearted
Faced with the near-total destruction of their people, Barahir's wife, Emeldir, took command of the remaining women and children. She armed those capable and led a dangerous exodus through the mountains, successfully guiding the survivors to the relative safety of Brethil.
