Summary
Highlights
Mr. Bear, in search of honey, discovers a beehive in the forest. Despite a warning from a single bee, he attempts to take honey from the hive.
A bee confronts Mr. Bear, telling him to leave their honey alone. Mr. Bear, feeling superior due to his size, ignores the warning and gets stung on the nose.
Enraged, Mr. Bear tries to hit the bee with a stick. When the bee retreats into the hive, Mr. Bear smashes the beehive to pieces, believing he has trapped the bee.
Thousands of bees emerge from the destroyed hive and chase Mr. Bear through the forest, stinging him repeatedly on various parts of his body, especially his nose.
Mr. Bear flees home, where his wife, Mrs. Bear, recognizes that he lost his temper again. She provides medicine for his stings and reminds him there was honey already in their cupboard, hidden behind the flour. The moral of the story is that a hot temper always leads to trouble.
