Buster Moon, the host, welcomes everyone to the Moon Theater, which he proudly proclaims is the very first stage lit entirely by squid power. He describes the theater as a 'palace of wonder'.

Two tough-looking characters, one of whom is Mike, barge into the theater demanding prize money from Moon. Moon tries to explain that it's prize money and not Mike's until he wins it, but the enforcers insist on getting the money.

Moon reluctantly gives them a chest, claiming it's the prize money. He feigns not having the keys. One of the enforcers smashes the chest open with a bat, only to find that it's empty. They realize Moon lied and confront him about the missing hundred thousand dollars.

During the confrontation, one of the enforcers accidentally breaks part of the theater's structure, causing a massive water tank to burst. This leads to a catastrophic flood that completely submerges the Moon Theater.
