After much resistance and humiliation from Cai Kun and Lin Yun, Cai Kun's condition worsens, forcing him to beg Lu Qi for help. Lu Qi finds the herb, saving Cai Kun's life, and highlights the importance of practical knowledge over theoretical understanding.
Cai Kun, still envious of Lu Qi's growing popularity, accuses him of stealing his lighter as Lu Qi demonstrates how to start a fire using flint and dry wood chips. Lin Yun struggles to start a fire with his modern tools, while Lu Qi effortlessly creates a powerful blaze. Cai Kun's attempts to frame Lu Qi backfire, as the audience and Liv Siqi realize Lu Qi's genuine skills.
During the night, while Lin Yun and Cai Kun try to sleep, Lu Qi's warnings about wild men are dismissed. A 'savage' (actually a program staff member) appears, scaring Cai Kun and Lin Yun away, but Lu Qi bravely confronts him. Lu Qi uses his newly acquired 'Tame the Beast' skill to control the 'savage,' exposing Cai Kun's cowardice and solidifying Lu Qi's reputation as a true survivalist.

Cai Kun and Lin Yun's condition worsens, and they decide to exit the competition. Lv Siqi, witnessing their incompetence and realizing her mistake in not trusting Lu Qi, leaves them to find him. She apologizes to Lu Qi and is allowed to join him for the next stage of the competition, which is set in a dangerous, unnamed cave. Lu Qi's skills continue to impress, as he quickly finds water and prepares for the cave's unique challenges, including fungal infections and bat droppings.

In a surprising turn, at the start of the second season, Lu Qi proposes to Lv Siqi, who accepts, promising to visit his 'little tent in the forest.'
