Summary
Highlights
Lightning McQueen thanks Cruise for the 'old man training' and declares himself warmed up. He asks Cruise to launch the simulator, despite her warnings that he should wait until he can handle it and that there are no shortcuts. McQueen, confident, retorts, 'Okay, we’ll just see about that.'
McQueen gets excited as the simulator powers up but is surprised by unexpected clamps. A female announcer guides him, telling him to 'prepare to race' and that 'the green flag is out.' Confused and unable to see a physical flag, McQueen takes off, finding the controls extremely sensitive and immediately scrapes a wall.
The simulator repeatedly announces, 'You have hit a wall.' McQueen complains about the number of walls, while Cruise advises him to race as he always does. The simulator then introduces Jackson Storm for 'motivation,' stating Storm races at 207, urging McQueen to pick up the pace, which only adds to his struggle and more wall hits.
McQueen insists he is fine despite Cruise suggesting he come down. He then experiences a series of chaotic events in the simulator, including jumping a barrier, creating two vehicles, destroying a drinking fountain, disabling an ambulance, catching fire, and going the wrong way. Panicked, he yells for it to be turned off before ultimately crashing, ending his disastrous first simulation attempt.
