A young man, Chu Stardust, finds himself in what is supposedly the number one immortal sect in the world, but it's nothing more than a broken temple. His first disciple, Li Yingling, is disappointed by the squalid conditions, initially refusing to join, but fears a forced marriage back home more than the poor sect. After she reluctantly bows, the system grants Chu Stardust a Flawless Golden Pill for recruiting a qualified disciple with a single-attribute Water Spiritual Root. The system also rewards him with the "Supreme Tai Yin True Xuan Water Spirit Sutra," a matching technique for his new disciple.
Li Yingling quickly advances to the fifth level of Qi Refining using the Water Heart Sutra. When she complains about hunger, Chu Stardust sends her to hunt. After half a month, she reaches the 9th level of Qi Refining but gets stuck. Chu Stardust, claiming to have no magic pills, sneakily leads her to a 'spiritual field' (which turns out to be someone else's). Li Yingling reluctantly 'acquires' spiritual plants from the field, leading to a confrontation with the Qingfeng Sect Elder.
Chu Stardust encounters Li Xingtian, a reborn individual with knowledge of his past life and a desire for revenge against the Qingfeng Sect and a search for the Millennium Bone Jade. Chu Stardust, using his system's perception of karma, impresses Li Xingtian, who mistakenly believes Chu Stardust is looking for the same jade. Li Xingtian joins the sect after realizing the significance of what he almost missed. A fight breaks out between Li Xingtian and a Qingfeng Sect disciple, with Li Yingling intervening using her advanced sword technique, powered by the system's synchronization.
Chu Stardust reveals the Qingfeng Sect's corrupt practices, using the guise of the 'Central China Heavenly Dao Alliance' to intimidate them. He rescues Li Xingtian and a young girl named Qian Qian, who reveals that the Qingfeng Sect has been tricking mortals into forced labor in their mines. Chu Stardust uses the system-provided "Mixed Demon Bone Refining Technique" and a special 'potion' (made in an iron pot) to help Li Xingtian rapidly cultivate and infiltrate the Qingfeng Sect mine. They discover the Qingfeng Sect is using a blood-sucking formation on the miners.
Chu Stardust and his disciples relocate to Yuzhou City. While there, Li Yingling, using her 'luck,' acquires a mystical wooden fish. Chu Stardust meets Miss Yaoqin, a powerful figure from the White Jade Mansion, seeking her help to purify a 'blood qi spirit stone' he acquired from the Qingfeng Sect mine. He also encounters Zhao Wanqing from the Demon Control Department, whose brother is injured while investigating evil cultivators. Chu Stardust, realizing the connection between the blood qi and the ongoing evil cult activities, offers to help Zhao Wanqing.
Li Xingtian, under Chu Stardust's guidance, goes with Zhao Wanqing to investigate a village attacked by evil cultivators. He encounters a powerful Foundation-stage cultivator and suffers injuries. Chu Stardust uses his unorthodox alchemy methods (cooking a 'potion' in an iron pot) to heal Zhao Wanqing, and she reports the findings to the Demon Control Department. They discover that the evil cultivators are targeting sects, hinting at a larger scheme orchestrated by a Central China force.
Yaoqin reveals that the Qingfeng Sect is merely a pawn in the evil cultivators' grand plan, who aim to perform blood sacrifices on cultivators. Chu Stardust strategically uses Li Xingtian to infiltrate the Wind Sword Sect, another sect under the influence of the evil cult, to disrupt their plans and make them reveal their true intentions. They ultimately confront the 'Holy Mother' of the cult, a YuanYing stage cultivator who was manipulating the blood sacrifices. During the confrontation, they also rescue a young girl, Chen Baiqing, who becomes Chu Stardust's third disciple, leading to his breakthrough to the Yuanying Realm.
Chu Stardust, now a Yuanying Realm cultivator, begins building his new sect (True Martial Hall) with the help of a former Qingfeng Sect member, Ning Kun. He tasks Li Xingtian with scouting a suitable location for the new clan. Meanwhile, Li Yingling faces her past, returning to her family in Xuanwu Kingdom where she was previously mistreated and almost forced into an unwanted marriage. Chu Stardust intervenes, ensuring justice for Li Yingling and her deceased mother.
The construction of the True Martial Hall is completed, and Chu Stardust receives the 'Room of Enlightenment' as a reward. This room enhances the disciples' comprehension of techniques, boosting their cultivation speed. Chu Stardust also refines his alchemy skills to produce ingestible pills, securing a stable source of spirit stones for the sect. He then proceeds to organize a grand apprenticeship ceremony, publicizing it across the Xuanwu Kingdom, using it as a way to filter out those with ill intentions and find suitable disciples, further increasing his own cultivation to the mid-YuanYing stage.
