In BFDI season 1, an alternate cut for the balance beam contest showed Pin winning Dream Island, hinting at an original shorter series. Other unused details include Leafy's abnormal eyes in an FLA file, and original team names "Yelling Beavers" and "Murder Trout" for the Squashy Cherries and Grapes. A similar face to Yellow Face was initially meant to appear when Pin asked about a win token. Two character rejoins, Blocky and Woody, were cut from the episode "Puzzling Mysteries Two." Naily's original design had no legs and a sideways body. Scrapped scenes released for audio editor auditions included an alternate intro, Rocky surviving elimination, and Firey and Flower speaker boxes killing the announcer.
In Battle For Dream Island Again (BFDIA), an original scene had Evil Leafy appearing behind trees when Pencil used her Leafy detector, but it was lost due to being on a guide layer. An FLA file contained a reference image called "Screeny" from the BFDI intro, likely used for the BFDIA intro. A drawn, armless Gelatin was found in the object library, possibly its original design. An easter egg in the FLA files for Yellow Face's game rules showed a hidden fourth rule: "No reading ahead."
A fan discovered the original script for BFDIA5, which was intended to be released in smaller chunks, and BFDIA5b was originally a full episode. Early concepts included putting Nickel and Coiny together to spawn Evil Leafy clones (changed to a money portal) and a different person commenting on Match. After Pin lost her limbs, Book was initially supposed to say "LOL" instead of "haha."
The deleted BFDIA5b script involved Ruby attempting to spin a challenge wheel that required a password from the Puffball Speaker Box. Firey struggled to remove a knife from the Puffball Speaker Box, accidentally shattering Ice Cube in the process. The recovery center malfunctioned, and after the Puffball Speaker Box was revived, it unlocked the wheel. Tennis Ball explained the "delimbification" process, causing limbs to fly everywhere. The Puffball Speaker Box was thrown onto spikes, and Evil Leafy teleported, cloned herself, and merged with Golf Ball, ending the episode with Gelatin spinning the wheel.
Though less content is known for IDFB, in BFB 16, a recommended character named Meatball had an asset created in 2013, suggesting it was an abandoned character intended for BFDIA 6. Grassy was also planned to have a different asset for IDFB, but the original BFDI asset was used instead because it was preferred.
