To calculate the time to spend on each question, divide its marks by two. For instance, a 25-mark Section A question allows 12.5 minutes, and a 60-mark Section B question allows 30 minutes. It's difficult to allocate time for sub-parts as their marks are unknown, but it's crucial to attempt every part. Don't dwell on particularly difficult questions that might not be worth many marks.
The Leaving Cert higher level maths exam Paper One is on June 9th, 2017, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Paper Two follows on the next Monday morning from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Each exam is 150 minutes long and worth 300 marks.
Recent years show fairer and more straightforward exam questions, leading to better-prepared students. Consequently, marking schemes have become more demanding. Unlike in earlier years, making a small attempt will not earn a significant number of marks.
The structure of marking schemes has changed. Previously, a decent attempt with numerical mistakes could still earn high marks. Now, numerical or methodological errors made early on can result in low or very low partial credit. Students should focus on accurate mathematical calculations and attention to detail to finish questions properly.
