The video introduces 'The Sermon at Banaras', focusing on Lord Buddha's teachings. It recounts his early life as Prince Siddharth Gautam, his privileged upbringing, and his eventual encounters with suffering that led him to seek enlightenment.
After seven years of seeking, Siddharth Gautam attained salvation under the Bodhi Tree (tree of wisdom). He became known as Buddha, 'the awakened or enlightened one', and delivered his first sermon in Banaras, a holy city on the banks of the River Ganga.
Buddha taught a valuable lesson through the story of Kisa Gotami, a woman devastated by the death of her only son. She desperately sought a cure, going from house to house, and was eventually directed to Lord Buddha.
Buddha asked Kisa Gotami to find mustard seeds from a house where no one had ever died. Upon her unsuccessful search, she realized that death is inevitable and common to all. She understood the cycle of life and death, and that clinging to sorrow only prolongs suffering.
Lord Buddha taught that grief and sorrow escalate suffering and negatively impact health. A wise person comprehends the natural order of life and death, accepts what is bound to happen, and chooses not to remain in constant grief to experience happiness and blessings.
