Assault and Caste-Based Abuse Incident in Chennalpatti

On August 11, 2024, during a puja with an animal sacrifice at the Mundasamy Temple in Chennalpatti by Kannan's family, a non-vegetarian meal was served. As the meal was ending, the 1st and 2nd accused arrived. Despite being served the remaining food, they complained that it was insufficient, verbally abusing the plaintiff. Other temple-goers intervened, leading the accused to leave.

Later that evening at 5 PM, as the plaintiff was returning home on a two-wheeler, the 3rd accused intercepted him near a newly constructed water tank in Chennalpatti South Street. The 3rd accused kicked the plaintiff off his vehicle. Subsequently, all three accused joined together, hurled caste-based insults, and assaulted the plaintiff with bricks, causing a bleeding head injury and bruises on his back and left chest.

The plaintiff's brothers and neighbors heard the commotion and intervened. The accused then threw rocks at the plaintiff, issued death threats, and fled the scene.
