Summary
Assessing Educational Progress: PISA Results (2018 vs. 2022) and HDI Correlation in the Philippines
Highlights
The Philippines participated in the OECD's PISA assessments in both 2018 and 2022. Filipino students consistently ranked among the least proficient globally in mathematics, reading, and science during both assessment periods. Despite the four-year gap, the study indicates no significant improvement in the country's performance from 2018 to 2022.
Using a statistical analysis design with T-tests and Pearson r, researchers compared the Philippines' PISA scores (2018 and 2022) against those of all participating countries. The analysis revealed a notable variation between the Philippines' scores and the overall PISA participant pool. Furthermore, the study identified a robustly positive correlation between PISA scores and the Human Development Index (HDI) within the Philippines, suggesting a relationship between educational outcomes and broader socio-economic development.
