The team arrives in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, the heart of Minangkabau culture. Their first stop is a culinary journey to try the traditional dessert Ampiang Dadiah, made from pounded glutinous rice and buffalo milk fermented in bamboo. Some enjoy it, while others find the fermented taste challenging.
After the culinary experience, the team visits the iconic Jam Gadang, a 26-meter-tall clock tower in Bukittinggi, to capture its grandeur for the Wonderland Indonesia film. They then prepare for an adventure to explore Ngarai Sianok, a natural phenomenon depicted on the IDR 2,000 banknote.
The expedition team embarks on an challenging off-road journey in a special Jeep to navigate the Ngarai Sianok valley. The path involves crossing a deep river with strong currents and narrow, overgrown roads, testing the drivers' concentration for about 25 minutes.
Despite the difficult journey, the team is rewarded with the magnificent panorama of Ngarai Sianok, a truly amazing landscape. This grand valley is a visual representation of the earth's plate movements in Sumatra, stretching 15 km with 100-meter-deep cliffs and a 200-meter-wide gorge.
About 50 km from Bukittinggi, the team arrives at Harau Valley in Limapuluh Koto Regency. This valley is surrounded by towering granite cliffs, and the fresh air and lush greenery create a serene atmosphere. They meet with Mr. Mahendra, representing the Ministry of Education and Culture, who expresses support for their project.
Mr. Mahendra from the Ministry of Education and Culture discusses the government's support for the Wonderland Indonesia project, highlighting their role as facilitators for innovation and creativity in media. He praises the team's work and hopes for more young individuals like "Alvir" to emerge, fostering nationalism and cultural preservation.
In Minang land, the team learns about the traditional Minangkabau Piring Dance, a symbol of gratitude for a bountiful harvest. They are taught the beautiful movements and understand its deep meaning, representing cooperation and the farmers' journey during planting. The team also records the traditional musical instruments used.
The Piring Dance also showcases traditional costumes: Baju Kurung for women and Busana Rang Mudu for men. The expedition continues its mission to document Indonesia's rich culture and natural beauty, preserving it for future generations.
