Dr. Robotnik forces Professor Von Schlemer to activate his 'Humongo Gizmo,' a machine that can make small things humongous. After some initial struggles, the machine works, much to Robotnik's delight, as he plans to use it to become the master of Mobius.
While Sonic and Tails enjoy chili dogs in Weinerville, the Humongo Gizmo accidentally affects Tails, causing him to grow uncontrollably. As Tails grows, his hunger intensifies, leading to him accidentally damaging the town.
Dr. Robotnik manipulates the citizens of Weinerville, blaming Sonic and the growing Tails for the damage. He pretends to be a hero, offering gifts and turning the townspeople against Sonic while planning his ultimate takeover.
Sonic realizes he needs Professor Von Schlemer to find a cure for Tails. He rescues the Professor from the Jungle of Doom by tricking Grounder and Scratch. The Professor reveals that the antidote is the 'hootento garlic' from the evil wizard lizard's garden.
Sonic retrieves the hootento garlic and, with the Professor's help, builds a giant chili dog launcher to administer the antidote to Tails. Robotnik attempts to stop them, but Sonic successfully gives Tails the garlic, returning him to normal and exposing Robotnik's deception.
